MFA students offer two performances in November

The Case/Cleveland Play House MFA Acting Program is proud to present the Third Year MFA students in Their Classic Repertory performances of Shakespeare's “A Midsummer Night's Dream” and Pierre Marivaux's “The Triumph of Love” in the Brooks Theatre at The Cleveland Play House.

“A Midsummer Night's Dream” is directed by Mark Alan Gordon. Shakespeare's classic romantic comedy infused with the flavor and spirit of the Roaring '20's - an era where Robber Barons created their own rules and governance, and supernatural intervention reminds us once again how bumpy the path is, for "the course of true-love never did run smooth."

Performances are November 9, 11, 17 and 19 at 8 pm and a matinee performance takes place on November 19 at 4 pm.

“The Triumph of Love” is directed by New York City Guest-Director Jonathan Silverstein. Deftly mixing the subversive Italian commedia dell'arte and the more refined and tragic French theatre of its day, Marivaux's hilarious classic pits passion against reason, slapstick against tragedy, The Triumph of Love is a classic tale of the lengths we go through for love. Princess Leonide wishes to restore the throne to its rightful heir, young Agis, with whom she has fallen instantly in love. Agis lives in seclusion with a philosopher and his unmarried sister in a house where love has been forbidden to enter. Undaunted, Leonide and her maid disguise themselves as men (and back again as women!) in order to sneak by the philosopher and his sister, gain Agis' love, and restore the throne to its rightful owner.

Performances are November 10, 12, 16 and 18 at 8 pm and matinee performances are scheduled for November 12 at 4 pm and November 13 at 2 pm.

General admission tickets are $10 and $5 for Case students, faculty and staff. For tickets, visit the ticket box office at 8500 Euclid Avenue or call the Cleveland Play House at (216) 795-7000, opt. 4.
