Who We Are

The Case Western Reserve University Board of Trustees has delegated to the University Faculty certain powers and responsibilities concerning the University’s educational, research and scholarly activities. All powers of the University Faculty, not otherwise reserved for the University Faculty itself, are exercised by the Faculty Senate, which is elected by the constituent faculties. The Faculty Handbook in conjunction with the Faculty Senate By-Laws constitute the rules and regulations governing the conduct and procedures of the Faculty Senate.

CWRU Faculty Senate members are elected using a formula found in the Constitution of the Faculty Handbook. In addition to faculty senators, the Senate includes chairs of standing and ad hoc committees, an undergraduate student, a graduate student and a professional school student.

Much of the work of the Faculty Senate is done through its committees.

Information about the Faculty Senate can be found in the Faculty Handbook.
