Professionals Day

Professionals Day is an event at which we celebrate our pre-doctoral students’ and residents’ research activities. Featuring student oral and poster presentations, a faculty or keynote speaker, and research awards, this event highlights our students’ research participation.

Here is the timeline for Professionals Day 2022, to be held in Samson Pavilion at the Heath Education Campus

  • 9am: Poster setup
  • 10am-12:30pm:  Poster Viewing and Judging in Samson 213 F1, F2, G1, G2 (Graduate Students) M1, M2 (DMD Students)
  • 12:45 -2:00 pm:  DMD Student Oral Presentations in Samson 176
  • 2:00-2:45pm: Presentations from CWRU SODM Research Faculty in Samson 176
  • 3:00pm: Awards Presentations

When and where is Professionals Day?

Professionals Day will be held in October each year in preparation for the AADOCR (American Association of Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research) meeting. The date can be confirmed via the Academic Calendar and DMD Schedules.

 

How do I register?

A registration form to present at Professionals Day will be sent to all DMD and Graduate students at the School of Dental Medicine prior to the event.

 

How should I prepare my presentation for Professionals Day?

Use the presentation tip sheet to help prepare. 

 

Where do I get help to make a poster?

Advice and tips on preparation can be found in the presentation tip sheet. Suggested printing options are also provided on the Tip Sheet.

General rules to consider:

  • Avoid walls of text
  • Less is more - A few well-presented key ideas is all you need
  • Keep it simple - Use color and font to highlight your work; don't let it distract from it

What awards are presented at the event?

Undergraduate (DMD) students are eligible for the Vibeke K. Nygaard Award for excellence in dental anatomy and masticatory dynamics, the OKU Award, the Guenther M. Hans Award for Presentations from the Platform (oral presentations), the Greater Cleveland Dental Society Basic, Clinical, or Community Science Presentation Award, and the SCADA Award for Poster Presentations, given to the DMD research student who will represent our school at the AADOCR annual meeting with expenses paid.


Graduate students are eligible for Nabil Bissada Graduate Student Awards.
