Your gift to the Parent Fund is directed to the Office of Student Affairs and supports the following activities:
Career Counseling
In an increasingly competitive professional market, more students than ever before are utilizing the Career Center for assessment services, career counseling, and internship and practicum opportunities in order to successfully transition to a fulfilling career.
Student Activities & Leadership
Case Western Reserve empowers students to take ownership of their university experience by supporting student programs, traditions, initiatives, and leadership development through innovative initiatives like the Emerging Leaders Program—the only leadership program geared specifically for first-year students.
Civic Engagement & Learning
The university also supports support service opportunities that promote active learning and address community needs. Through the Center for Civic Engagement & Learning, students seeking community-based capstone projects and service learning coursework, work-study and paid placements in the community, students are encouraged to broaden their educational experience and serve those in need.
Academic Support
Case Western Reserve provides valuable academic resources to help students achieve their fullest potential, including SAGES tutors and supplemental instruction.
Physical Education and Athletics
Case Western Reserve offers 19 varsity sports, in which over 500 students participate annually. Hundreds more are involved in club sports and physical education courses. Seventy percent of undergraduate students are involved in intramural sports. Together, these programs provide challenging, healthy opportunities to compete, stay in shape, and manage stress.
How does your support impact the student experience?
In academic year 2010-2011:
- 1,544 undergraduate students utilized the Career Center.
- There are currently 153 student organizations recognized by Undergraduate Student Government.
- Students signed in 13,751 times for Supplemental Instruction (SI) and 4,508 times for Peer Tutoring.
- 1,830 students benefited from Supplemental Instruction (SI) and Peer Tutoring Programs through Educational Services for Students.
- Students use the athletic facilities 33,000 hours per year for sports and recreation.
