HISTORY

Case Western Reserve University introduced its current main Web homepage, with slight variations, in 2004 at which time it began a multi-year process of use and review. That process started with the creation of branded templates that coordinated with the university’s new homepage and its logo at that time and were implemented across most of the university’s school, department and organization sites in 2004.

A Web Task Force, consisting of faculty, staff, student, school and department representatives, along with members of the Information Technology Services and University Relations teams, was appointed in 2005 and charged with reviewing and making recommendations regarding the university’s homepage. The group benchmarked peer universities, conducted focus groups and forums and reviewed available research.

Then in 2006, following the introduction of the university’s new internal electronic newsletter, Case Daily, the university conducted an online survey about its homepage. Following that survey, the university conducted a six-month visual identity development process that resulted in its new logo.

In 2007, in order to better highlight the new look, better serve its audiences and better share its story, the university began its next community input phase of a project that will introduce the university’s first new main Web homepage in nearly five years.
