Located on the southern shore of Lake Erie (41°
24' N, 81° 51' W) Cleveland has a seasonal climate
with cold snowy winters and warm sunny summers. Lake
Erie, the shallowest of the five Great
Lakes, offers a moderating effect on the weather, keeping
summers slightly cooler and winters slightly warmer than they
might be further inland. Autumn in Cleveland, running from
September through November generally offers moderate weather
with clear skies and brilliant October
foliage. Springtime conditions can vary. From March through
April the weather can bring anything from cold and snow to
warm sunshine.
Visitors should check the forecast and pack accordingly. While
lighter clothing is generally appropriate in summer, heavy
coats and boots are practical in winter.
