13. Rockefeller Building
Built in 1906, Rockefeller houses the Physics
Department. It is the oldest
extant building of Case Institute of Technology, and was a gift
of John
D. Rockefeller, a Cleveland native and owner of one of
the homes on "Millionaires' Row" before business interests
took him to New York City. The building was planned by Professor
Dayton C. Miller, who purchased much of the original equipment
in Europe; the architect was Charles Schneider. Prominent names
in the history of physics adorn the building below the roofline.
