Cornell Road Bridge Closure

The Cornell Road Bridge is currently restricted to pedestrian access only.

Cornell Road Bridge Closure
Red X's indicate the location of the Cornell Bridge Closure
on Cornell Road between Circle Drive and Murray Hill.

The Cornell Road Bridge—above the railroad tracks between Murray Hill and Circle Drive—was closed to vehicular traffic on December 21, 2006. Pedestrian traffic will be maintained. The long-term project is expected to be complete prior to July 2009. The university's Campus Services will provide updates as appropriate. The Adelbert Road Bridge opened December 22 and is fully accessible.

Those who have been using the Cornell Road bridge as a means of connection between Cleveland Heights and campus facilities must use an alternate route. Drivers coming down Edgehill to Cornell will need to turn on Murray Hill, either taking a right towards Mayfield*, or a left towards Adelbert. Rather than detouring around this bridge, visitors may find it easier to simply use Mayfield or Cedar when going between Cleveland Heights and campus.

* Please note that there is no traffic light at the intersection of Murray Hill and Mayfield and drivers may experience long waits when attempting to turn onto Mayfield Rd.
