Virtual Immersion Center for

FACILITY - INTRODUCTION

The Virtual Immersion Center for Simulation Research (VICSR) offers a 180 degree immersive virtual reality (IVR) training system which consists of three 8 by 10 foot screens utilizing state-of-the-art rear projection-based technology.

This IVR theater surrounds the user and enables them to experience an immersive virtual realityT training simulation. The system's features include: biometric feedback tracking (heart rate, skin temperature, skin conductance and respiration), instructor and authoring stations, recording capabilities, special effects, and high-quality audio and digital imagery.

VirTra Systems, Inc, a company that specializes in applying patented technology to produce the world's most advanced virtual reality systems and 3-D experiences, was contracted to build VICSR in collaboration with Stacy Williams, Ph.D. and Case Western Reserve University.
