Laura Martinez Massie has worked at Case Western Reserve since November 2001. Before she came to Case, Laura led public information and media relations efforts for the Ohio Board of Regents in Columbus, the state's higher education coordinating body, from 1998-2001. Prior to that, she was a media relations coordinator/administrator at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., for 10 years.
She has also worked as a general assignment reporter for the Star-Beacon in Ashtabula, as assistant editor of Beverage Industry Magazine, as public affairs assistant for AAA-Ohio Motorists Association in Cleveland and as public affairs coordinator for AAA Potomac (now AAA Mid-Atlantic) in Washington, D.C., where she also was trained as a driver improvement instructor.
Laura has a B.S.J. (journalism) from Ohio University. While she is well known among her family, friends and coworkers for her encyclopedic knowledge of college and professional sports, few people know that Laura is also a one-time stand-up comedy competition winner (who now restricts her comedic talents to one-liner emails). She is a proud mom to her 12-year-old Persian cat, Ginger.
