The APAS utilities are a suite of tools that web
maintainers at Case can use to manage their sites. The Office of Creative Services
does not maintain or support the site. It is managed by ITS. However, since it is full of some very useful tools,
we encourage its use and link to it from our page.
Here are a
few tips for using the tool kit.
The login
and password will be the login and password for your site.
In other words the name of your account on aurora. This is the same
login and password that you need to FTP into your department's or school's
site.
Once you
login, you'll find an assortment of tools, including
Web-stats
generator, which can give you stats by directory level or for the
entire site.
Index
page generator, a handy utility that will create a page in HTML
with links to all the files in a particular directory. It's useful
to me for site maintenance. Once the page is created it'll have
links to every file sorted by extension... .gif .jpg .htm .html, etc.
Warming: Be careful; it'll write over your homepage if it's
named index! To prevent this, just pick another name like indexreport.htm
or some other file name that does not exist in your site.
Password
Protection. You can password protect a directory... or just
one file. Read the directions; it works well.
