University's new logo to start shining

Case Western Reserve University begins the official rollout of its new logo on Monday, July 2, with the new graphic to be featured on banners along Euclid Avenue and the university's main Web home page, along with basic image files and templates being made available to the university community for use.

Incorporating the visual identity system into your projects

A variety of templates have been created to help you apply the guidelines. Whether you are giving a powerpoint presentation, creating a word document, or just need to add a logo to a simple flyer, the elements you will need are readily available on our Case Logos page. Our Branding Guidelines for Printed Materials and Editorial Style Guide offer additional information and are both available as downloadable .pdf documents. Web site maintainers should reference the Web Development pages which includes additional templates, tips and guidance.

For instructions on updating the university's logo on Web sites, consult the Web Development Tool Kit.

Additional banners, Web pages, merchandise and stationery featuring the new logo will start to surface over the next 12 months. The university has asked that schools and departments remain fiscally responsible while committing to full implementation of the new logo over the next year.

Stationery items featuring the new logo will be made available on the Printing Services Web site on July 2. Senior leadership, deans and vice presidents will receive priority for new business cards, letterhead and envelopes. Due to demand, orders may take at least 14 business days to deliver.

In addition, select merchandise featuring the new logo will be available for purchase from the University Bookstore around August 1. New items will be added periodically.

The new logo was designed in-house and selected using input from thousands of students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the university who participated in online and campus forums and from the nearly 10,000 total who responded to two online surveys of design concepts. The emblem is a modern representation of the traditional sun pictured in historical crests of both Western Reserve University and Case Institute of Technology.
