The Peter Witt Scholarship Fund was established in 1960 to provide financial assistance to deserving students of The College of Arts and Sciences whose interests are in social work, city planning, or community involvement. Preference will be given to students living in the Cleveland area. Students applying for this scholarship should have demonstrated leadership and engagement in activities on and off campus.

Application Procedure

Along with the application, students must submit:

  • two letters of recommendation
  • an essay of no more than two pages describing his/her service activities
  • resume

The application for the 2017-2018 academic year will be posted here in the fall. Completed applications will be due in early March 2017 and must be submitted to Dean Amanda McCarthy. All applicants will be informed of decisions as soon as possible, and public recognition will be given at the honors assembly for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors at the end of the semester. 

Value of the Award

The amount of the scholarship varies, but depending on need and other factors, it may be for as much as $5,000.
