Researchers from the Case School of Engineering tested four different fire blankets in prescribed burns on a hillside in Los Angeles County last week. The engineers, led by Fumiaki Takahashi, a research professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, believe the blankets will prove safer and more effective and environmentally sound than traditional firefighting methods at protecting houses from wildfires.
