Departmental Admin Center Newsletter - Volume 3

This newsletter seeks to answer some of your common questions about accessing student data in SIS as well as bring you timely updates and information. This volume's topics include:

Statement of Account

Report for a Single Student

DAC users now have access to run a Statement of Account (SoA) for any student whose record they can access through the DAC. The SoA displays charges and credits for a term and, optionally, includes the student’s schedule. There are three ways to access it which are all found under the >Navigator >Campus Community menu:

  • Select >Statement of Account (Admin), then search for a student.
  • Select >Student Services Center, search for a student and click Statement of Account in the Finances section of the page.
  • Select >Departmental Admin Center, select the plan(s) you wish to view then click View Students. When the results grid appears, click the Additional Info tab, then click Statement of Account.

See Additional Notes at SIS Resources >Department Administrators >Student Account Data for detailed information about this report.

Report for a Group of Students

If you need to run SoAs for a group of students whose data you can access, e.g., all students in one plan, you can do so by navigating to the Reporting Center tile and selecting Report Scheduler.

Running this report for the first time requires the creation of a new run control.

  1. Click the Add a New Value tab and enter a Run Control ID and click Add.
  2. Enter the report name CW_ACCT_DATA. You will be prompted for the Term. You may also enter Program and/or Plan and click OK.
  3. When you've added your prompt value(s), click Run.
  4. Click OK and then Process Monitor. You should see the report processing.
  5. Click Refresh until the Run Status changes to Success and the Distribution Status changes to Posted.
  6. Click Related Content in the upper right and choose Report Manager.
  7. Click on the report name CW_ACCT_DATA.
  8. On the next page choose CW_ACCT_DATA.pdf to see the results.

Tableau and Additional Reporting

As you may know, the Data Warehouse, and the BusinessObjects reports, was decommissioned last March. Tableau has been selected as the enterprise analytics solution. Dashboards and reports have begun to be released. If you had access to the Data Warehouse, you may also have access to Tableau. Find the new platform by going to data.case.edu.

Because there are multiple ways to find data, we’ve created an Additional Reporting page to help you decipher the best place to find what you’re looking for. The page is organized by data category and then system. Here you will find instructions for locating data in SIS and Tableau.
