Contest to test how well Case knows its campus architecture
Members of the Case Western Reserve University community can find out just how well they know the Case campus. Case's new Institute for the Study of the University in Society is conducting an online campus markings contest in which students, faculty, staff (except staff of the Institute for the Study of the University in Society), alumni, friends, neighbors and visitors identify 12 images of architectural details from the Case campus-including some from buildings that are more than 120 years old. The photographs at http://www.cwru.edu/artsci/isus/contest.htm were taken recently, and the details shown are all within clear view of passers-by. Entries must identify the location (building or other campus feature) where each architectural detail is located on campus. Winners will be selected on the basis of the accuracy and completeness of their identifications. In the case of equally accurate and complete submissions, the entry received first will be the winner. The prize for first place is a signed copy of "Cleveland Then & Now" by John Grabowski, the Krieger-Mueller Associate Professor of Public History at Case and director of research at the Western Reserve Historical Society and his wife, Diane (GRS M.A./M.S.L.S, 1978), plus a framed print of an image of choice from among those included in the contest. In addition, two runners-up will receive a framed print of the image of choice from among those in the contest. All contest entries must be received by 5 p.m. February 27. Winners will be informed the following week and will be listed on the Web site.
