SCHOOL OF DENTAL MEDICINE
1940s

Edmund Elkins (’44) is the former chief of Oral and Dental Surgery in Detroit, as well as vice-chief for the Detroit Medical Center. He has one daughter and one son. Edmund is now in charge of golf at the Broken Sound Country Club in Florida. He also is a motivational speaker for cancer survivors. E-mail monroe48075@aol.com.

Joseph H. Liebert (’44) has been retired now for over 18 years. He has three children and one grandchild. During the winter, he and wife Edith head to Florida.

1950s

Harold ‘Hal’ Engel (’54) is now retired and living with his wife in Painesville, OH.

Norman A. Shuman (’54) and his wife, Corrine “Rene,” live in Lynnfield, MA. They have a daughter, two sons, and two grandchildren. The oldest son is a practicing dentist in New Hampshire. Norman is now retired and enjoying it. He travels (California or Florida), works on the lawn and garden, and plays the piano. He also has been active in Kiwanis for 50 years.

Sanford A. Aaronson (’57) has been a practicing orthodontist for almost 40 years now in Santa Monica, CA. These days, he works part time, as his nephew has taken over the practice. Since graduating from law school in 1991, he has been an expert witness in orthodontic malpractice suits.

1970s

Scott Alperin (’74), Pepper Pike, OH, has been the chief of the Dept. of Dentistry and OMS since 1984, as well as teaching in the Dept. of Oral Surgery at the School of Dental Medicine. He and wife Leslie have three children. He enjoys bicycling, skiing, and flying airplanes. E-mail salperin@juno.com.

Ted Schechter (’76), Cleveland, has joined the Lyndhurst, OH, dental practice of Daniel Koplow (’87), after managing his own practice for several years.

1990s

Pietro DiBattista (’90) and his wife, Isabel, and family are enjoying life in Quebec, Canada. E-mail Gumdoc99@yahoo.com.

Margaret Pallone O’Keefe (’90, ’92) and husband Timothy (’91, ’93) write that they are “truly blessed.” The couple and their five children recently moved into their dream home in Lewiston, NY, and both have successful practices. They keep busy with their children’s activities, while taking care of a pet dog, cat, and fish.
