CLEVELAND -- The Department of Theater Arts at Case Western Reserve University continues its 2000-01 production season with Two by Two, a presentation of four one-act plays by Tennessee Williams. Performances in Eldred Theater will be at 8 p.m. November 10-11 and 16-17, with matinees at 2:30 p.m. November 12 and 19.

Faculty member Catherine Albers directs four separate casts, comprised of undergraduate and graduate students, in early works by Williams -- This Property Is Condemned, Talk to Me Like the Rain And Let Me Listen, Hello from Bertha, and 27 Wagons Full of Cotton. Homer Farr is the set and lighting designer for the plays, and Kathleen Clay is the costume designer.

This retrospective of some of Tennessee Williams' short plays reveals the author's poetic insight into human nature. According to the script book which the cast is using for the plays, Williams "can compress the basic meaning of life--its pathos or its tragedy, its bravery or the quality of its love--into one small scene or a few moments of dialogue." These plays reflect that truth.

General admission is $9, with discounted prices of $7 for adults over 60 and University personnel, and $5 for students. For ticket reservations and information, call the box office at 216-368-6262.
