Book traces women's successes

In her latest book, medical school faculty member Sylvia Rimm looks at how 1,000 girls became successful women. Crown Publishing released See Jane Win in May. The book has ranked as high as seventh among sales leaders on the Internet store Amazon.com.

Rimm conducted research for and produced the book with her daughters -- Sara Rimm-Kaufman, a research psychologist, and Ilonna Rimm, a pediatric oncologist.

Among women profiled is School of Medicine faculty member Janice Douglas. She is a professor of medicine at the School of Medicine and director of the hypertension division at University Hospitals of Cleveland.

A psychologist, Rimm is a clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the School of Medicine and director of the Family Achievement Center at MetroHealth Medical Center. She is heard weekly on her own show which airs on National Public Radio stations, appears monthly on NBC's Today show, and writes a nationally syndicated newspaper column.

Rimm has published several books, including Dr. Sylvia Rimm's Smart Parenting: How to Parent So Children Will Learn, Raising Preschoolers: Parenting for Today (written with Katie Couric), and Why Bright Kids Get Poor Grades: And What You Can Do About It.
