CWRU faculty are among Medical Hall of Fame inductees

CLEVELAND -- Nathan Berger (center), dean of the School of Medicine and vice president for medical affairs, joins this year's inductees from Case Western Reserve University into the Fourth Annual Cleveland Medical Hall of Fame. They are (from left) Richard Fratianne, professor of surgery and an alumnus of the school; Karen Olness, professor of pediatrics; former Congressman Louis Stokes, who has served since early 1999 as senior visiting scholar in the practice of social policy and community revitalization at the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences; and Jay Ankeney, an alumnus and professor emeritus of surgery. The induction ceremony was held September 21 at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel. Not pictured, but also inducted, was Edward A. Mortimer Jr., the Elisabeth Severance Prentiss Professor Emeritus of Community Health. Robert Chapman "Chip" Gilkeson, a 1989 graduate of the medical school, received the Marconi Prize for Technical Innovation at the ceremony.
