Members named to dean search committees

CLEVELAND -- President David Auston has appointed search advisory committees to advise him in the searches for new deans for the Weatherhead School of Management and the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University.

Chairing the Weatherhead search committee is Richard Shatten, the Ameritech Professor for the Practice of Regional Economics and director of the Center for Regional Economic Issues.

The following faculty members and administrators are serving on the committee:

• Richard Boland, professor and chair of information systems
• David Deeds, assistant professor of management policy and entrepreneurship
• Jeffrey Glass, the Joseph F. Toot Jr. Professor of Engineering and co-director of the Institute for the Integration of Management and Engineering
• Julia Grant, associate professor of accountancy and associate dean for professional and international programs
• Paul Laux, associate professor of banking and finance
• Poppy McLeod, associate professor of organizational behavior
• Matthew Sobel, the William E. Umstattd Professor and chair of operations
• Frances Cort, assistant dean for professional and international programs

Student committee members are Matthew Jameson, an undergraduate accountancy major, and Heather Beebe, a second-year M.B.A. student who serves as president of the Graduate Business Student Association.

CWRU Trustee Peter Hellman, who chairs the school's visiting committee, is serving on the search advisory committee, as is visiting committee member William Seelbach.

Sandra Russ, professor of psychology, will chair the search advisory committee for the new arts and sciences dean.

These are the other faculty members on the arts and sciences search committee:

• Gerald Korngold, the McCurdy Professor and dean of the School of Law
• Ellen Landau, professor and chair of art history and art
• M. Cather Simpson, assistant professor of chemistry
• Kenneth Singer, professor and associate chair of physics
• Gary Stonum, the Oviatt Professor and chair of English
• Rhonda Williams, assistant professor of history.

Two students also will serve on the committee -- Erin McMullen, a senior majoring in music and psychology; and Heather Kichner, a Ph.D. student in English.

Others members of the committee are Barbara Klante, assistant dean and manager of special programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, and CWRU trustee George Aronoff, who is a member of the school's visiting committee.

Provost James Wagner will serve as an ex officio member of the committee.
