Engineering dean search panel formed

CLEVELAND -- President David Auston has appointed a search advisory committee to advise him in the search for a new dean of Case Western Reserve University's Case School of Engineering.

The committee chair will be Arthur Heuer, the Kyocera Distinguished Professor of Ceramics in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.

Five other CSE faculty members are on the committee:

• Gary Michal, professor and chair of materials science and engineering
• Stephen Phillips, associate professor of electrical engineering and computer science
• Clare Rimnac, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering
• Yoram Rudy, the Rudy Professor of Cardiac Bioelectricity in the Department of Biomedical Engineering
• Anne Hiltner, professor of macromolecular science and engineering

Also on the committee are two students -- Robert Boyer, a senior undergraduate majoring in materials science and president of the Case Engineers Council, and Khalid Kader, a Ph.D. candidate in biomedical engineering.

These are the other committee members:

• Jerold Goldberg, professor and dean of the School of Dentistry
• Richard Hanson, the Skeggs Professor of Biochemistry at the School of Medicine
• Matthew Sobel, the Umstattd Professor and chair of the operations department at the Weatherhead School of Management
• Trustee Joseph Keithley, who is chairman, president, and CEO of Keithley Instruments Inc.

Provost James Wagner will serve as an ex officio member of the committee.
