Purpose

The Winston Churchill Foundation of the United States was established in 1959 to encourage the exchange of knowledge and ideas between the United States and Great Britain. To this end, it established a scholarship program to enable outstanding American students to do graduate work in engineering, mathematics and science at Churchill College at Cambridge University in England. The scholarship provides the opportunity to purse graduate studies at one of the world's greatest universities. In addition, the scholarship also offers the rewards associated with living abroad, of experiencing a different way of life and of seeing the world, one's own country and oneself from a new perspective.

Currently 13 Churchill Scholarships, tenable for one year, are offered annually.
