After talking to many Case professors about what they look for in a student who wants to become involved in UR-CE, the following list was compiled:
- Curiosity
- Creativity
- Self-motivation
- Initiative
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as a team member
- Persistence
- Passion
In addition, students often discuss the need for patience. Research takes much more time than many students realize at the onset. Students also discuss the need to handle ambiguity and failure. In much of scientific research, when learning what works, one more often learns what does not work. Both are inherently part of the research process. |
