Full-time/Part-time:

Case Western Reserve University's new student information system, implemented in summer 2008, allows the university to store and use multiple definitions of student status. The university definition considers any student to be full-time if he or she is enrolled in a full-time equivalent course, even if the student's credit-hour registration is at less than a full-time level. Such courses include dissertation research, cooperative education, certain practica and internships, and study abroad. These students have always been considered full-time by the university, but limitations in the legacy student system did not allow reporting based on any standard other than credit-hour enrollment. The new reporting standards make the internal and external definitions consistent. Abbreviations used are:

  • PTM = PART TIME MALES
  • PTF = PART TIME FEMALES
  • FTM = FULL TIME MALES
  • FTF = FULL TIME FEMALES

FTE - Full Time Equivalency:

The formula for calculating FTE is total part-time students divided by three, plus total full-time students.

Ethnicity codes:

  • ETH1 = AMERICAN INDIAN/ALASKA NATIVE
  • ETH2 = BLACK OR AFRICAN AMERICAN
  • ETH3 = ASIAN
  • ETH4 = HISPANIC OR LATINO
  • ETH5 = WHITE
  • ETH6 = OTHER
