The following is a brief description of each search field in the Schedule of Classes.
Semester Spotlight
"Spotlighted" courses are courses which are new, one-time, or infrequent offerings to which departments would like to call attention.
By Term
To search for classes offered in a given term (spring, summer or fall), select the term from the list provided. Please note that only terms for which course information
is available will appear in the list.
By Subject
To search for a course by subject, enter the four letter subject code in the provided text area. For example, to find all
course in the English department, you would enter ENGL in this field. For a full list of subject
abbreviations, see Subject Codes.
By Course Number
To search for courses with a given course number, enter the course number
in the provided text area. For example, if you would like to find all courses
with the course number 101, you would enter 101 in this field.
If you would like to find a range of course numbers, for example all 200-level
courses, you can enter 2* into the text area.
By College
To search for a class offered from a given college, select the name of the college from the provided list. To search all
colleges, leave the field blank.
By Course Title
To search for a course by its title, enter a word from the title in the text area. For example, if you were looking for
the course ANTH 401, "Biological Aging In Humans," you could enter the word aging in the text area. Note that this will also match "Managing," "Imaging," or any other work that contains the string "aging."
By Day
To search for classes that meet on a given day, click the checkbox next to the day of the week. Note: Selecting a given day will give you all
classes that meet on that day, but may also meet on additional days. For example, selecting Monday and Wednesday will give you not only classes that
meet only on Monday and Wednesday, but also classes that meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
By Course Time
To search for a course by meeting time, use the pulldown menus to define a
block of time in which the course should meet. For example, to find all
classes that meet between 10:30am and 2:00pm you would set the "Classes Start
After" menus to [10]:[30] [AM] and the "Classes End Before" menus to [2]:[00]
[PM].
By Instructor
To search for classes offered by a given instructor, enter the instructor's name in the provided text are.
By Description
To seach for a class by a word in its description, enter the word in the provided text area. For example, if you wished to find all classes that
discuss metabolism you would enter the work metabolism on the text area.
By Building
To search for classes offered in a given building, enter that building's code in the provided text area. See Building Codes for a translation of building codes.
