POSTPONED! Critical Conversation #3: Conflicts in the Middle East

Editor's Note: The Office of the Provost on Nov. 11 announced the postponement of this Critical Conversation, “Conflicts in the Middle East.” This faculty panel discussion will be rescheduled for a later time. Once the new date is determined, the Provost’s Office will notify all existing registrants, and also publicize it through CampusGroups and the daily.

Institutions of higher education are uniquely positioned to engage in difficult dialogue. Universities are places where individuals should feel safe to discuss complex issues while feeling heard and respected.

Members of the Case Western Reserve University community are invited to join Provost Ben Vinson III on Wednesday, Nov. 16, to explore conflict in the Middle East. A panel of experts will uncover the topic from multiple perspectives including the historic, legal, societal and ethical implications of the subject.

The panelists will be:

  • Avidan Cover
Professor of Law, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Director, Institute for Global Security Law and Policy, Frederick K. Cox International Law Center
    School of Law
  • Maysan Haydar
    Assistant Professor of History
    College of Arts and Sciences
  • Paul Tiyambe Zeleza
    Associate Provost and Visiting Professor
Siegal Lifelong Learning and Cleveland College

This event will be from noon to 1 p.m. in the Thwing Center ballroom. Lunch will be provided by The Jolly Scholar.
