June 26th:

"Ethics for Graduate and Professional Students: Getting Beyond Knowing the Rules to Living a Good Life"

Dr. Shannon E. French, Inamori Professor in Ethics and Director, Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence

The goals of this workshop are :

  1. to increase graduate and professional students' familiarity with the major schools of thought in the field of Ethics in the Western Philosophical tradition,
  2. to provide tools for moral reasoning, which can help students determine what is the right thing to do in complex situations with many ethical dimensions,
  3. to explore character and motivation, including how virtues and vices are developed and why good people sometimes make bad choices, and
  4. to discuss how to apply ethical theory in real life, both as students and in their future careers (including how to maintain ethics within an organization, even under corrupt leadership). This workshop will be dynamic, interactive, and accessible to students from any discipline, with abstract principles always being tied back to reality. It will run 10:30am-3:30pm, with a break for lunch (food and beverages provided).

Please register for this event through the CWRU Graduate Studies office. Seating is limited.
