Helen Qammar, PhD

Dr. Helen Qammar, Director of the Institute of Teaching &Learning at UA since July 2007, died January 7 2012 after a lengthy illness. She was 54.
Dr. Qammar, an Associate Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, joined UA's College of Engineering in 1989 after serving as an engineer with Exxon Research and Engineering Co., and as a fellow with Resources for the Future in Washington, D.C. She earned a bachelor's degree at Syracuse University, and a master's and Ph.D. at the University of Virginia.
