Center for Layered Polymeric Systems (CLiPS)

ACES student
The CLiPS Annual Meeting brought together faculty, students, and staff members from the CLiPS partner and affiliate institutions.

The Center for Layered Polymeric Systems (CLiPs) at Case Western Reserve University provides a powerful national presence for distinguished research at the crossroads of polymer science and engineering (called "polymers plus"), and for education of a diverse American workforce that can meet the challenges of emerging multidisciplinary polymer-based technologies.

A full research and education partnership between Case and Fisk will broaden participation of African-American students in the science and technology programs at both universities. Through CLiPS, Case and Fisk have developed a strategic partnership that encourages joint research and educational initiatives. This unique alliance allows for joint activities for CLiPS participants ranging from high school students through faculty members, and is sure to become a model for a fully integrated partnership between a Minority-Serving Institution and a Research Institution.

The Case-Fisk Alliance has the following components: full research partnerships, joint graduate research projects, fascillitated graduate school admission, 3/2 dual-degree program and semester exchange programs, undergraduate summer internships at CLiPS Institutions, and high school recruiting.

In addition to these initiatives, faculty and staff from each school regularly travel to the other to give seminars and participate in other events.
