Dual Degree Programs

Case and Fisk launched two joint academic programs that allow graduate and undergraduate students to reap the rewards of the rich resources at both institutions. A third program in social work was established a year later.

Engineering

The Case School of Engineering's Binary Program makes available a joint liberal arts and engineering program for undergraduates. Students who complete the program receive a bachelor of arts degree from Fisk University and a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Case. Under the program, students attend Fisk for the first three years and apply to Case in the beginning of their junior year. At the end of their junior year, the students transfer to Case as a third-year student in an engineering program. Provided that they have followed the academic guidelines and have maintained a grade point average of B or better, it is possible that they will finish the program in two additional years.

Accountancy

Under the Weatherhead School of Management program, students earn a bachelor's degree from Fisk and a master of accountancy degree from Case. The joint program in accountancy calls for student to complete about 130 semester credit hours at Fisk, applying to Case in the second term of their junior year. If all goes as planned, students are notified of admission to the Weatherhead School by the end of their junior years, so they can plan their senior year schedules accordingly. Those who are deemed eligible for the joint program will have a grade point average of B or better and a minimum score of 500 on the GMAT. Such a student, admitted in full standing, may be able to complete the requirements for the master's degree in two summer semesters (a total of four courses) and two regular semesters (a total of ten courses).

Social Work

Under the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences program, students earn a bachelor's degree from Fisk and a master's level degree in social work from Case. The joint program in social work calls for students to have completed 94 semester credit hours at Fisk including 24 hours in the social and behavioral sciences by the end of their junior year. A cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2 in all courses taken at Fisk is required for admission. Students must apply to Case in the first term of their junior year. Students are awarded a Bachelor's degree from Fisk upon successful completion of the first year of full time studies (31 semester hours) in the program. Case will award a Master of Science in Social Administration upon successful completion of the graduate program.
