“Men, Women, Sex and Violence”

In partnership with John Carroll University

Renowned educator, author, and filmmaker Jackson Katz is internationally recognized for his groundbreaking work in gender violence prevention education with men and boys, particularly in the sports culture and the military.

This multimedia lecture explores today's cultural environment in relation to gender, sex, and violence.  More specifically, this acclaimed program inspires men and women to confront one of the most serious and persistent problems facing college students: violence against women.

Tuesday October 28, 7pm, Strosacker Auditorium,

“The Macho Paradox: Why Some Men Hurt Women and How All Men Can Help.”

This multimedia lecture uses the title and structure of Jackson Katz’s important and highly readable new book The Macho Paradox to explore some of the ways that male culture contributes to sexual and domestic violence, and to suggest strategies to enlist men in the fight against all forms of men’s violence toward women.

Group to assemble at the 4th District Police Station and walk to the
Zelma George Recreation Center for a panel discussion.

Westside, Tuesday, October 21st 6:30-8:30pm

Group to assemble at the 2nd District Police Station and walk to the
Clark Recreation Center for a panel discussion

Panelists will include: a representative from the County Prosecutor's Office, Sheriff's Office, Cleveland Div. of Police, Forensic Nursing Program, Mental Health Provider, Advocacy Organizations and Survivors of Sexual/Domestic Violence.

The City Club of Cleveland will have a reserved “Flora Stone Mather Center for Women” table at the Friday Forums. The table will be sponsored by the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women. Anyone who wishes to attend a forum may call the City Club main line at 216-621-0082 to reserve a seat at the member price for this table.
