Flora Stone Mather Center For Women

CENTER PARTNERSHIPS

Building community through service, collaboration and partnership is an integral part of the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women’s mission and philosophy. One of the ways we do this is by reaching out to the greater Cleveland community through our events, co-sponsorships, and community-based initiatives.

FSM CENTER FOR WOMEN EVENTS

Most of our events are free and open to the public, but community members are particularly invited to participate in the following FSM Center for Women programs:

ACT III ROUNDTABLE: A DROP-IN DISCUSSION GROUP
This group is for women of retirement age who meet at the Center for conversation, speakers, and programs twice a month.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH LUNCHEON
This annual luncheon in celebration of Black History Month features a performance by a member of the Lakewood acting troupe “Women in History.” The event takes place each February.

MATHER SPOTLIGHT SERIES ON WOMEN’S SCHOLARSHIP
The Mather Spotlight Series was endowed through the generosity of the Flora Stone Mather Alumnae Association in 1989. The resulting Mather Centennial Endowment Fund allows us to celebrate and learn from women’s scholarship throughout the year. The series highlights the work of women faculty, promotes understanding of women’s accomplishments (and struggles) in the academy, and promotes networking among women faculty and students. The series features lectures by CWRU women faculty and an annual awards reception honoring outstanding women scholars.

WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH
Every March, the FSM Center for Women hosts programs, events, and displays in honor of Women’s History Month, with programmatic emphasis on women in the arts and media literacy.

PROJECT ON MEN & GENDER
The FSM Center for Women’s Project on Men and Gender (PMG) features annual programs and workshops that explore masculinity, men’s violence, gender stereotypes, and healthy relationships in the interest of reducing violence against women.
