STUDENT INFORMATION SYSTEM PROJECT

SIS Project Goals & Objectives

The goal of the student information system implementation project is to build a secure, flexible, easy to maintain environment for creating and maintaining academic records. By adhering to this goal, services for faculty, staff and students will be improved and the new environment will lend itself so the following goals and objectives can be met:

  • Replace aging core legacy mainframe system which has become increasingly risky and costly to support and maintain.
  • Provide faculty, staff and students with user-friendly, customizable, self-serve access to real-time data through the PeopleSoft interface and through the MyCase portal.
  • Build a foundation for student systems that can be easily expanded to include the eventual implementation of Admissions, Financial Aid and Continuing Ed.
  • Provide workflow to improve and streamline business process flows with consistency and efficiency.
  • Create a single source for an integrated university-wide data repository through the Enterprise Data Warehouse for reporting and data analysis capabilities thus promoting information sharing across the university.
  • Maintain a robust, reliable infrastructure for sustaining all university services and supporting growth for new services.
  • Measure, evaluate, and plan for continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and improve the current business process.
  • Facilitate updated services and customizable features to enable service providers to enhance the overall student experience at Case.
  • Accurate conversion of data to ensure the integrity and maintain the confidence in administrative applications.
  • Transfer of knowledge and system ownership from CedarCrestone consultants to the administrative users and technical staff at Case.
  • Evaluate interfaces and, when optimal, incorporate external systems into the student information system (e.g., middleware/identity management, Degree Audit and Reporting System, fsaAtlas, ProSam, QuikPay, CAMS, housing/board/meal plan, etc.).
  • Take advantage of collaborative opportunities by devising solutions to provide university solutions for all undergraduate, graduate and professional schools.
  • Meet project milestones and complete project on-time and on-budget while meeting the goals listed above.
