October 2001 Newsletter

Communications Report:

The committee is working to provide all new and continuing SAC representatives with email contact lists for their staff constituents. The committee will assist those who need help in setting up and initiating the use of these lists. The committee is also working to identify those constituents that are not easily reached via email, and devising alternate contact systems for them. Communications Committee will meet Tuesday, October 9, at 12 noon in 351 Adelbert Hall.

Community Services Report:

The committee will be holding a fund-raising basket auction in conjunction with this year's Benefits Fair in November. CWRU Departments will be invited to donate a "theme" basket for the auction. This fall, the Committee will promote participation in the Breast Cancer Run/Walk. Details on these events to follow in subsequent newsletters/announcements. The Committee is seeking a new Chair or Co-Chairs. Interested individuals should contact Terri Geiger (tam, x2660) or Christy Kehoe (cxk15, x5517). Service Committee will meet Thursday, August 16, at 12 noon in Charlie's Place at Thwing Center.

Elections Report:

The committee will discuss the new calendar and debrief the orientation breakfast at our next meeting. The statistics from the general election are posted on the SAC website. Elections Committee will meet Tuesday, October 16, at 10:30 a.m. 604 Crawford Hall.

Fringe Benefits Report:

The committee is discussing adoption leave. Fringe Benefits Committee will meet Monday, October 15, at 12:00 noon in 1 Adelbert Hall.

Staff Policy Report:

The committee will revisit timely performance appraisals for staff employees. Staff Policy Committee will meet Wednesday, October 31, at 10:30 a.m. in 353 Adelbert Hall.

Staff Recognition Report:

The committee is reviewing the nomination process for the 2002 President's Award for Distinguished Service. Staff Recognition will meet Tuesday, October 16, at 12 noon in 352 Adelbert Hall.

Staff Training and Development Report:

The committee is hosting a new series to use the employee resources housed in Kelvin Smith Library, Video on Wheels. The next viewing will be "Finding Personal and Professional Balance" on October 18 at noon in 209 Crawford Hall. In order to raise awareness, the employee resources (purchased by HR and house in KSL) will be displayed at the Benefits Fair in November. Staff Training and Development will meet Wednesday, October 10, at 12 noon in 1 Adelbert Hall.
