Colleen Treml joined the University’s Office of General Counsel full-time in 2003, having worked in the office as Assistant University Attorney since 1996. She works in the areas of employment law, disability law, faculty and academic affairs, policy formation, and research matters.
From 1994 to 2003, she specialized in employment law and litigation with the firm of Taft, Stettinius & Hollister. She worked primarily on cases for Case and other educational institutions. From 1994-1996, she served as in-house counsel to Ursuline College.
From 1991-1993, Ms. Treml served as a law clerk to the Honorable Alice M. Batchelder on the U.S. District Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Ms. Treml is admitted to practice in Ohio, to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Ms Treml received her undergraduate degree from Albion College, Albion, Michigan. She received her J.D. with honors from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where she served as articles editor for the North Carolina Law Review and was elected to the Order of Coif.
Ms. Treml holds memberships in the National Association of College & University Attorneys and the Ohio State Bar Association, Employment Law Section.
