This page on Assessment Resources was compiled by Bucknell University and has an emphasis on academic assessment. In addition to identifying a broad range of Internet assessment resources, the Bucknell page provides useful references for assessment plans by field of study.

The Internet Resources for Higher Education Outcomes Assessment site is maintained by North Carolina State University and is the most exhaustive list of useful sites we have found. While the title indicates the listed sites may only apply to assessment issues, the actual listings are quite broad.

College and University Sites

The IPEDS College Navigator site, maintained by the U.S. Department of Education, is also useful for finding websites and basic data on colleges and universities in the U.S.

Data Sources

The American Council on Education has a useful listing of links on higher education and general education policy, research, and organizations.

The National Center for Education Statistics of the U.S. Department of Education collects and analyzes data related to education in the U.S. at all levels. The ED Stats at a Glance Annual Reports page provides links to some of the most useful NCES publications.

The Division of Sciences Resources Statistics of the National Science Foundation provides statistics on research and education in science, engineering, and technology, both in the U.S. and internationally.

The Statistical Abstract of the United States has data on social and economic conditions in the U.S., along with links to key federal statistical reports and data sources.

Planning Resources

The Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) site is an excellent destination for information on planning resources, conferences, and such.

The Management Assistance Program for Nonprofits provides an exhaustive reference for all strategic planning issues, including procedures and resources.

Professional Development

The Association for Institutional Research (AIR) is the primary professional organization for institutional researchers in higher education, both in the U.S. and abroad.
