NRC STUDY OF DOCTORAL EDUCATION

National Research Council Study of Research Doctorate Programs

The National Research Council (NRC) is conducting its third study of research doctorate programs in fall 2006. Results of NRC assessments are used widely throughout higher education by prospective faculty and students, funding agencies, donors, and the general public. Thirty-one doctoral programs at Case are eligible and will be evaluated as part of the study.
The Institutional Coordinator for Case’s participation is Dean Charles Rozek, School of Graduate Studies, but data collection involves a cooperative effort by Graduate Studies, academic departments, and the Center for Institutional Research.
The NRC has made considerable effort to refine the methodology and improve the quality and scope of the data it collects. The extensive data collection process involves four questionnaires: for programs, faculty, admitted-to-candidacy students, and the institution.
