The Office of Institutional Research collects a variety of survey data for internal management, planning, and policy research purposes. We maintain and produce reports on student, faculty, and staff datasets. Much of our research can be found on our website.
Members of the Case community are encouraged to contact us with specific requests for data analysis before considering a new survey. Please provide a rationale for the analysis, a list of carefully thought out questions, and a specific deadline. For examples of the types of questions we can address, please see the reports we have produced looking at the effectiveness of the SAGES pilot program or the Emerging Leaders Program.
Our first priority is to serve members of the Case Western Reserve community. In general, we do not produce these kinds of reports for other institutions or external organizations.
Much of the information in the datasets we maintain is confidential and protected by Case Western Reserve’s Institutional Review Board. Our policy is not to release unit-record data for individual research purposes, except in rare instances and under specific conditions, such as:
If a dataset is shared, in most instances all identifiers will be removed from the database to maintain the confidentiality of the data.
IR does not release email addresses to the campus community or to outside individuals or groups for purposes of surveys or other research.
CWRU Institutional Research complies with the Code of Ethics adopted by the Association of Institutional Research.
