Reports and Analysis by Topic

In addition to reporting on survey results, the Institutional Research office is often asked to utilize available data to assess aspects of the undergraduate experience.

The Seminar Approach to General Education and Scholarship (SAGES)

The first two reports below focus only on the SAGES pilot program and the third report examines the impact of SAGES during students' first year only. Once the class of 2009 graduates, the Institutional Research office will conduct an assessment of the impact of the fully-implemented SAGES program on the undergraduate experience.

Peter B. Lewis Building

In addition to our own research on the SAGES program, Institutional Research worked with the University Undergraduate Faculty's SAGES Impact Committee. In 2008 we provided extensive analysis of existing data. In 2009 we worked with the Impact Committee to create and analyze student, faculty, and department surveys assessing the impact of the SAGES Capstone requirement.

Student Retention

As part of the Strategic Planning process, Institutional Research assisted the Retention Task Force in an effort to better understand first-to-third semester retention among Case undergraduates.

Student Satisfaction

By using data from the Senior Survey and NSSE, Institutional Research was able to examine longitudinal changes in student satisfaction and determine factors associated with student satisfaction.

Free Access Program

One of the benefits of being a student at Case is the ability to visit University Circle museums and instututions free of charge. This report attempts to examine the impact of that program on undergraduate students.

Emerging Leaders Program (ELP)

The Emerging Leaders Program is an intensive leadership development program for Case first-year students. This report utilizes institutional data to examine the types of students who choose to participate in the program and how those students are affected by the program.

Greek Life

Working with the Office of Greek Life, Institutional Research put together a presentation profiling the types of students who join a fraternity or sorority, assessing the impact of Greek participation, and examining the relationship between Greek membership and retention.

Academic Advising

This presentation was given to SAGES First-Seminar advisors in the summer of 2008. The presentation uses institutional data to provide a profile of the "typical Case student" and goes on to examine what Case students have to say about academic advising.

Using Participation Records to Evaluate Impact

In a presentation given at the Student Affairs directors retreat, Institutional Research demonstrated how participation records (swipe-card technology, club list-servs, etc) can be used to evaluate the impact of a program or club. This presentation examines the impact of the Career Center, Greek Life, and the Emerging Leaders Program.
