Cultural Competency Presentation for Faculty

Each member of the campus community is expected to strive to create a climate of equity and respect among colleagues, students and staff. Diversity is a core value at Case, but we don’t expect that you automatically know what that means. The diversity of the faculty, staff and students at Case is complex and hopefully the information provided to will help you navigate and impact the climate here at Case.

This presentation strives to get you started with the following goals and provide you with resources for the future. This presentation will:

• 1. Familiarize you with Case policy and procedure
• 2. Help you to expect, understand, and respect differences
• 3. Help you develop an awareness of the perceptions and behaviors that foster clear communication for effective supervising
• 4. Help you recognize that power differentials that can lead to abuses and harassment
• 5. Know where you can go for information and advice and help
