The Faculty Diversity Officer | The Manager of Faculty Diversity and Development

The Faculty Diversity Officer

The Faculty Diversity Officer is housed within the Office of Inlcusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity, and reports to the Vice President for Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity. He/She serves as a facilitator for addressing faculty diversity issues, particularly relating to recruitment, employment, and other areas related to faculty duties. He/She serves as the faculty affirmative action officer, investigates allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination (gender, sexual orientation, racial, and ADA.)

All members of the Case community are obligated to report first-hand reports of sexual harassment that are brought to their attention, to the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity. The full sexual harassment policy can be read on the Sexual Conduct website.

If you are faculty and need accommodation for a disability and can verify your disability with appropriate documentation, the Faculty Diversity Officer will assist in coordinating appropriate reasonable accommodation.

If you need mediation of departmental/college/school issues or have a complaint that is not in the realm of unlawful discrimination or sexual harassment, you may contact the chair of your department, the Dean of your School, the chair of the Faculty Senate Personnel Committee, or the Faculty Diversity Officer for assistance.

Confidentiality:

The Faculty Diversity Officer attempts to treat all information respectfully and with appropriate discretion, however, it is important to understand that confidentiality can only be guaranteed within the confines of the polices and scope of the office. During investigations or mediations, information from interviews may be shared with parties involved in the investigation or with others as appropriate.

Retaliation:

Retaliation for disclosure of information to the Office of Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity is prohibited by Case policy. If you feel you have been retaliated against due to a complaint made to this Office, please contact the Office immediately 216.368.8877.

The Manager of Faculty Diversity and Development

 

The Manager of Faculty Diversity and Development reports directly to the Faculty Diversity Officer. He/She works with faculty search committees, department chairs and deans to increase the diversity of the faculty candidate pools and eliminate subtle bias from the process. He/She helps committees navigate government regulations and the university guidelines by providing customized resources, information, and suggestions to ensure the best candidates are applying to Case. The Manager also leads the cultural competency session for new faculty, and provides meeting facilitation. The Manager is available upon request to lead conversations about subtle bias in Promotion and Tenure, racism, sexism, departmental climate change, sexual harassment, communication skills, and meeting skills.
