Anger in the Workplace

To be angry is to revenge the faults of others upon ourselves.
– Alexander Pope

One out of five Americans has an anger management problem. Anger is a natural human emotion and is nature’s way of empowering us to “ward off” our perception of an attack or threat to our well-being. The problem is not anger; the problem is mismanagement of anger. Mismanaged anger is a major cause of conflict in our personal and professional relationships. Because anger is accompanied by physiological and biological changes such as increased heart rate, blood pressure, and adrenaline, we can all benefit from learning to identify and manage our anger.

For individual counseling on anger management in the workplace or personal relationships, please contact the confidential and free resource EASE@Work at (216) 241-3273.
