General Information

Who are you?

We are the College Trivia Club, devoted to "spreading useless knowledge all over the CWRU campus." (That's not really what our purpose is in our charter.)

As for our membership, we are open to all UNDERGRADUATES, as we are funded by the Undergraduate Student Government. Graduate students and faculty are also more than welcome to attend and help.

We organize the College Bowl Intramural Tournament on campus and attend College Bowl Regionals every year.

We also attend other intercollegiate competitions across the area. We haven't gotten enough money to travel around the country to more exotic places to compete, but with a little luck, we'll get there. Try some of our sample questions.

Read more about us in a 1997 article from The Observer!

How do I contact the team?

You can mail us, but if you're a student on campus, meet us during the Activites Fair during Fall Orientation Week.  Or, send us an email at trivia@po.cwru.edu

How do I make it to the team?

If you make practices consistently, you'll be on the team.

We currently practice weekly, meeting at the Thwing Student Center 7:30 pm on Thursdays. Practices go until 9 or 10 PM. Supplemental practices during the week may also be scheduled, depending on everyone's schedule.

For most competitions, we can bring more than one team. However, the final College Bowl Regionals team will be selected by January, as we can only send four team members with one possible alternate to this competition. This selection will be based on performance at other intercollegiate competitions and/or at our intramural tournament.

Don't think you're not good enough.
We need everyone!

You'll get better as you acquire more knowledge from classes and gain valuable playing experience. You may get blown out as a freshman, and think you're over your head. But as you keep practicing and hearing more questions, you will probably get better playing.

And if you don't, there's always help we need in organizing and planning. This is not a "scrub job." It is just as important to know how to be a good official and organizer of competitions so you know what to look for when you attend other schools' tournaments. This is especially important for our high school tournaments, when we will organize over 100 students and their coaches around campus.
