Constitution

We, the students of Case Western Reserve University,
in order to further the pursuit of trivia, do hereby adopt and establish
this Constitution for the CWRU College Trivia Club.
- Article I: Title
- The name of this organization shall be the Case Western Reserve
University College Trivia Club.
- Article II: Purpose
- The purposes and objectives of this organization shall be:
- To promote and encourage the playing of trivia games and
the accumulation of trivial knowledge
- To host on-campus trivia tournaments, both for CWRU students
and for local high school students
- To recruit, train, and support the trivia teams which
represent CWRU in intercollegiate competition
- Article III: Membership
- The membership of this organization shall consist of all undergraduate
students of Case Western Reserve University. This organization does not
discriminate on the basis of race, sex, religion, or sexual orientation.
- Article IV: Executive
- The executive shall be composed of a President, Vice President,
Secretary, and Treasurer. Section One: Specific Responsibilities
- President
- The President shall guide and direct the activities of the
Club, preside at all meetings of the Club, call special meetings of the general
body or the executive when necessary, and perform any duties incidental
to the office.
- Vice President
- The Vice President shall preside in the absence of the President
and assist the President in the guidance and directon of the Club.
- Secretary
- The Secretary shall keep a record of official meetings, conduct
official correspondence for the Club, provide for the dissemination of announcements,
and deliver all such records to his or her successor at the end of the term
of office.
- Treasurer
- The Treasurer shall submit reports on the financial status
of the organization, maintain permanent records of income and expenditures
of the Club, and deliver all such records to his or her successor at the
end of the term of office.
Section Two: Collective Responsibilities
The Executive Body shall:
- Appoint an advisor subject to the approval of the general
body
- Serve as the interim governing body of the organization and,
as such, have the power to formulate policies and manage the affairs of
the Club
- Propose by-laws and constitutional amendments
- Prepare resolutions for matters to be considered by the general
body
- Prepare a tentative calendar of events and an annual budget,
subject to the approval of the general body
- Article V: Election Procedures
- The election process shall be headed by the advisor who will
be responsible for setting the guidelines and directions for these elections.
Section One: Election of the Executive Body
- Any currently enrolled undergraduate of Case Western Reserve
University is eligible to run for any executive office
- The President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer
shall be elected at the final meeting of the spring semester and shall take
office immediately thereafter.
Section Two: Eligibility to Vote in Elections
In order to be eligible to vote in the election of officers, one must
be currently registered as a student of Case Western Reserve University
and have attended a minimum of two Club meetings.
- Article VI: Removal from Office

- In order to be eligible to vote or petition the removal
of an Executive from office, one must be currently enrolled as a student of
Case Western Reserve University and have attended a minimum of two meetings.
- Any member of the Executive Body may be removed from office
via the following procedure.
- A written petition stating grounds for removal shall
be submitted to the Executive Body and proposed to the general body during
the next general meeting.
- The indicted board member shall be removed from office
if the petition is approved by a two-thirds vote of all members eligible
to vote at the general meeting in which it was proposed. The indicted board
member is ineligible to vote on this specific position.
- Article VII: Voting

- At meetings of the Executive Body, each member shall be
entitled to one vote.
- At full membership meetings of the Club, all members of
the Club are entitled to one vote, except in the event of the removal of an
officer, in which case, the indicted officer is ineligible to vote.
- The President is empowered to break a tie vote.
- Article VII: Amendments and By-Laws

- This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote of
all members present who have attended a minimum of two meetings.
- By-laws may be adopted or amended by a two-thirds vote
of the membership present.
- Article IX: Ratification
- A two-thirds vote of the membership of the CWRU College Trivia
Club shall be sufficient for the adoption and establishment of this Constitution.
