Orders will be taken at the mixer and the first practice for arrival at the second; be sure to bring correct change or your checkbook. After this period has passed, you can go to the Capezio store (info below) and get
these shoes yourself. Mention that you are from the Case Western Tappers to receive your 10% discount. Also, contact an officer if you feel you need to go to the store with someone to try on and check out
the shoes before buying. Men, please ask the officers for assistance.
Guidelines for Purchasing Taps
-
If you already have tap shoes, even if they are not black, DO NOT buy new ones
until you have decided you need them at a Spartan Tappers rehearsal.
-
The officers will mass order beginner Capezio Tapster or Split Sole shoes
for men or women at the beginning of each FALL semester. We will have try-on
shoes at the mixer, where you can also order them. If there are not that many
tappers looking to buy, such as in the SPRING semester, we may organize a group
trip to the Capezio store.
-
If you are buying new, please purchase black shoes.
-
Beginners can purchase the cheaper shoes for an initial investment.
-
It is generally cheaper (taking online shipping costs into account) to get
the Capezio Tapster beginner shoe from the Capezio store. However, it may be more
cost effective for experienced tappers to order upper level shoes from an online retailer such as Discount
Dance Supply.
-
While you may have specific preferences, we suggest getting the recommended
types of shoes unless you feel strongly about a brand's fit or other issue
concerning a shoe.
-
More advanced members really should have split sole jazz style taps for
advanced steps.
-
Tap shoe sizes may run differently than street shoes. Make sure you check the
tap shoe description on the website - or better yet, go to the store and try
them on - for size conversions in the cases that they exist.
-
If you are debating between sizes, go for the smaller - tap shoes should fit
snugly for the best dance-ability. However, men should opt for the larger option,
as men often have wider feet.
-
Make sure the actual taps come with the shoe!
-
If you are a member of the Spartan Tappers who needs help, just email a Tappers officer.
Nearby Stores Where You Can Buy Taps
Actually going, trying on, and buying is the easiest thing to do outside
ordering them from us at the Mixer.

The Capezio Store:
5658 Mayfield Road, Cleveland, OH 44124
phone (440) 442-8377
http://www.capeziodance.com
This is straight up Mayfield 6.5 miles from campus, in the same complex as
Applebee's. There are two awesome benefits from buying here: you can try on
shoes for exact fits, and you don't have to pay for shipping. Also, you know
will have the shoes right away, and don't have to deal with the possibility of
bad online retailers.
Websites Where You Can Buy Taps
(Prices are current as of August 2006)
Online retailers have caused problems in the past with reasonably expedient
shipping and availability. We highly recommend that you use the Capezio store
