Established curriculum – take books to schools, already tested programs.  Intl program.  Large student interest – over 60 people attended meeting.  In Shaw school, where Street Law goes, Case students working with juvenile detention center.  Requires separate books and material.  Funding won’t cover both of the books.  Had pursued other funding options, but didn’t work out. A lot of 1Ls interested – maybe a permanent program.  Continuous events.
        3. Sen. Logue: are the training materials for case students?  Yes.  Curriculum, materials, lesson plans, etc.  It’s like a training manual.
        4. Senate Counsel Kringel: charge membership dues?  No, 1st year.  Will consider for next year.  Books are a 1 time thing.  Purchase book from national organization – don’t give them out for free.  Pursuing LSAC funding, but has to go through admissions
        5. Sen. Malbasa: associated with street law classes at shaw (5).  Used widely.  Other resources also allocated.

Left over money will go back to sba.

      4. Fall Ball – invoicing Kitty for funds for centerpieces.
    5. Senate Counsel’s Report
      1. Discussion groups on black board.  What should the role of senate counsel and honor court be now that the revisions have been made? Only responsibility now is election and budget committee.  Ask friends and get feedback.   Drafting a code of conduct for students – don’t litter type of thing.  Not actual crimes, but things that are inconsiderate to other law students.  3: what should student activity funds be used for? Want to put language in the constitution/bylaws.
      2. VP Holmes: this is the end of October, committees do a lot of work and if you are not meeting and meeting with students already, you’re missing out.  This is a way to reach out, get more pepple involved, and ease the work you have to do.
  6. Committee Reports
    1. Buildings & Grounds
      1. Sen. Nardulli: Email stations update.  Sen. Hudson met with Tron.  Agreed that 3 computer terminals at least would go somewhere in Blackacre.  They are aware of printing issues, and they have money earmarked every year for improvements.  Hopefully by next semester they will get a new printer for upstairs and take an old one to bring downstairs.  Bad idea for everyone to use law review printers.  Tron is open to working with us.
      2. Senate Counsel Kringel: working with Tron since last year to get a color printer for SBA office – will come in next week for student orgs to use for color printers.
    2. Sports Committee
      1. Flag football – Nov. 11 – still discussing which charity donations will go to.  12-4pm. Signups start on Wednesday.
    3. Student Life
      1. Sen. Hudson: Student-Faculty Relations update.  We lost special guest, we think.  Still having tea, he just many not be there for the tea.  Senators, please come.  We are making face-to-face outreach to get faculty to come. 3:30 on Thursday, Nov. 2
    4. Library –
      1. Sen. Saykiewicz: met with Lisa Peters regarding earplugs, hours, etc.  Library says nothing in budget so there’s nothing they can do.  Physical appearance – need to work on.  Cell phone usage – try to curb it, but they don’t want signs.  Vicious cycle
      2. Senate Counsel Kringel: gates – they were down for 2 weeks – no email saying sorry or anything.
      3. Sen. Hudson: don’t like the library – bottom floor is not useful – not used that much by student.  Maybe put in study carols?  Make it feel more homey
      4. Sen. Nardulli: renovations – they used to ask students.  They eluded to changing the first floor?
    5. Sen. Davidson: post-party at Uptown – miscommunication.  Bar review tbd.
      1. Chesbro: why Thursday?
      2. Sen. Gupta – flyers saying free rides home from uptowne – a lot of pple didn’t get free rides.
    6. Community service
      1. Sen. Schmitt: 7 students at Judson manor on Friday.  Made Halloween crafts. See the board.  Next Friday – botanical gardens.  Putting together holiday show.
      2. Sen. Hudson: problem to get students to go?  Yes.  Now we’re taking pictures and writing articles to try and spark interest
      3. Sen. Wolf: can they put those events in patty’s emails?
  7. Subcommittee Reports
  8. Old Business
    1. Sen. Hudson – Resolution in Support of Academic Competitions - delivered
  9. New Business
    1. Sen. Malbasa
      1. Newspaper Subscription Proposal
        1. At business school, providing some daily newspapers to students.  Thought it was related to professionalism.  Did research – can get papers at a discount some even 13 cents a day.  $65 a month for many papers. Will draft budget proposal is students want it.  Put outside of sba office.
          1. President Choy – years back tried to get Dean Andelman to sponsor it, but they wouldn’t fund it.  There are subscriptions (minimal) in the library – many don’t get read.
          2. Senate Counsel Kringel: no stacks of wall-street journal in blackacre?  No
      2. Committee Proposal for examining use of activity fees
        1. Who explores that? Budget committee or the school – who determines it and do we have any influence over it?  Not clear.  Parry Kim has something to do with it.  We don’t have any direct say.
    2. Sen. Hudson
      1. Resolution in support of University’s non-discrimination policy
        1. Updated equal opportunity statement from university.  Gender identity and expression was added as a group that cannot be discriminated against.  Sen. Nardulli and Hudson – drafted it.  At the end, calling upon school to make sure policy is disseminated and enforced.  Law school policy incorporates university policy by reference.  Doesn’t explicitly state transgender, but includes it.  Met with Katherine hall form equal opp office – result from student activism on campus.
        2. Sen. Nardulli – as SBA and rep of student, important to support policy changes like this.  Motion to pass resolution.  2nd.   Passes unanimously
