Patristic Quote of the Week

St. Jerome: “I follow no leader but Christ and join in communion with none but Your Blessedness, that is, with the chair of Peter.  I know that this is the rock on which the Church has been built.  Whoever eats the Lamb outside this house is profane.  Anyone who is not in the ark of Noah will perish when the flood prevails…”  (Letter of Jerome to Pope Damasus 15, 2 [Inter A.D. 374-379]).

Pope John Paul II

Today, October 16, 2003, we celebrate the 25-year pontificate of our Holy Father, Pope John Paul II.  Here are a few inspirational quotes from him:

"Let yourselves be charmed by Christ, the Infinite who appeared among you in visible and imitable form. Let yourselves be attracted by his example, which has changed the history of the world and directed it toward an exhilarating goal. Let yourselves be loved by the love of the Holy Spirit, who wishes to turn you away from worldly things to begin in you the life of the new self, crated in God's way in righteousness and true holiness. Fall in love with Jesus Christ, to live his very life, so that our world may have life in the life of the gospel."

"Today we are living in an age of instant communications. But do you realize what a unique form of communication prayer is? Prayer enables us to meet God at the most profound level of our being. It connects us directly to God, the living God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in a constant exchange of love."

“Even though you are young, the time for action is now! It is time to let your light shine! Remember, Christ is calling you; the Church needs you; the Pope believes in you, and he expects great things of you!”

That’s all for this one.  Thanks for reading and have a wonderful fall break!!

In Him,

Cheryl
