Hey Newman,

I hope you had a nice start this weekend to the Easter season!  We have a shorter newsletter for now, but there’s more to come at the end of the week.

·         There will be a Taize service this Thursday, April 15th at 9pm at Hallinan.  Please come join us for an hour of worship through chanting, scripture readings, intercessions, silence, and candlelight.

·         A reminder that we will be attending Holy Rosary for Mass next weekend as well as serving dinner beforehand.  More details will be in the next newsletter.

·         Our Professor Prayer Campaign is still going strong.  Please pick up some cards at Hallinan located near the door on the bench.  Thanks to those who have been praying!

·         The Cannolis and Morals program will be next Friday, April 23rd; 7pm at Hallinan.

·         Congratulations to all our Newman students who were fully initiated into the church this Easter weekend!

·         And, as always:

Patristic Quote of the Week

St. Pacian of Barcelona: “Christian is my name, and Catholic my surname.  The one designates me, while the other makes me specific.  Thus am I attested and set apart… When we are called Catholics it is by this appellation that our people are kept apart from any heretical name.”  (Three Letters to the Novatianist Sympronian 1, 4 [inter ca. A.D. 375 - 392]).

Prayer Requests

Please pray for

·         Those having difficulties with their faith or with the church

·         Those who are oppressed, impoverished, abandoned, or alone

·         All mothers and fathers, in thanks for their sacrifices

·         All families, especially those that are torn by conflict, for healing

·         Those who are ill or close to death, for comfort for them and their families

·         And for peace in the world and in our own hearts.

Umbert the Unborn

Here’s something that’s maybe new for you.  Or maybe you’ve heard of him before: Umbert the Unborn.  Catholic cartoonist Gary Cangemi has been drawing this pro-life comic strip for awhile now as a reminder of the preciousness of life inside the womb.  Have a look:
