Newman Information
"God has created me to do some definite service. I have a
part in this great work.
I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection
between persons."
-John Henry Cardinal Newman
Newman Catholic Campus Ministry, the Church's ministry to
higher education on secular and private non-Catholic campuses, traces its
mission to the vision of John Henry Cardinal Newman, himself a pastor and
scholar.
The mission of Newman Catholic Campus Ministry is to gather
Catholic students attending non-Catholic colleges and universities in the
Diocese of Cleveland in order to strengthen their faith and Catholic
identity through:
- Participation in a worshipping community of faith
- Increased understanding of Catholic teaching and tradition
- Education, action, and reflection on peace and justice issues
- Leadership development
- Opportunities for personal development and conscience formation
- Making connections between faith and life
The Newman Catholic Student Association is the undergraduate
student group within Newman Catholic Campus Ministry of the Diocese of
Cleveland. NCSA collaborates with the campus minister to provide
opportunities for spiritual growth through the development of a supportive
faith community that offers educational, service, and social programming.
The Newman offices are located in the Church of the Covenant
which is shared with UPCaM and the Muslim Student Association.

Nightly Rosary
At Case, it has become a tradition for Newman students to gather every
evening to pray the Rosary for world peace. The Rosary group meets nightly
at 9:00pm in the pavilion between Leutner, Taft, and Tyler. If you live on
Southside, please e-mail
Lucy to coordinate travel to Northside. You may also e-mail her or
Steve for more information about our Rosary group.
Taize Prayer
Taize prayer, which consists of the repetition of simple Christian
phrases through quiet chanting as well as a psalm, scripture readings,
intercessions, silence, and candlelight, comes to us from a community of
ecumenical brothers living in Taize, France. Since the late 1950’s, young
adults from around the world have been meeting in this French village to
pray with one another. Taize services are held once a month on a weeknight,
and are generally announced one week in advance. Please contact
Eric for more information.
